5 millimetre meat

5-millimetre mechanically recovered meat has a coarse, grainy texture and is used in minced meat products, sausages and frankfurters and various sliced meats.

Our 5-millimetre mechanically recovered meat is offered as a Type 3 product:

  • Permitted for use in meat products and meat preparations that still need to undergo heat treatment (by the end user) before they are fit for consumption;
  • Labelling: needs to be separately labelled ‘mechanically separated pork’ in the ingredients statement;
  • Labelling: may be included in the product’s total meat content; does however need to be labelled separately;
  • Minimal changes to the cell structure, meaning that meat tissue characteristics are preserved;
  • Available as a 5-millimetre product.
